Ernst van Dyk Wins Gold At The Rio Paralympics

Veteran hand cyclist and Össur ambassador Ernst van Dyk picked up South Africa’s 10th medal at the Rio Paralympics after winning the cycling road race in a time of 1:37.49 on Friday 16 September.

This was van Dyk’s eighth Paralympic medal, in his fifth and last games but only his second career gold, after picking up a gold medal at the 2008 Beijing Games.This was also his last race in the games as he calls time on his Paralympic career. Van Dyk has won three bronze medals and three silver medals, and fell two places short of another medal in Rio when he came fifth in the time trial.
